Activism Thru Art
Is Anyone Listening by Heather MacKenzie
"Is Anyone Listening" is the newest addition to my Anti-War Collection that the Ukrainian-Russian crisis inspired me to create. We see a powerful image of a war-torn Ukrainian City with burned-out buildings and barren streets. Sitting in the midst of the scene is a lone man playing his cello to the abandoned buildings in ruins. In the foreground is a forlorn pair of sunflowers bowing their heads in sorrow. Get it HERE
Devil in the Skies by Heather MacKenzie
A Mig Jet flying in the sky and dropping a missile over a field of Sunflowers painted in the van Gogh style. The colors are sky blue and yellow like the Ukrainian Flag, paired with the van Gogh sunflower styling using hues of orange and brown. The image is meant to evoke a chilling sense of foreboding and impending danger juxtaposed with the beauty and innocence of the golden symbol of the Ukrainian People. Get it HERE
From Kremlin, With Love by Heather MacKenzie
This original painting, "From Kremlin, With Love" features six Russian Nesting Dolls in a row; the last doll has been opened, revealing a black heart resting on its base. The Matryoshka Dolls are decorated with images of Russian Religious architectural symbols and have angelic faces, cleverly hiding what's truly inside with the guise of innocence and piety. Get it HERE
